Internet Speed How To Improve Internet Connection Speed

Your internet connection speed depends on more than just how you’re connected. Other factors come into play.

Let’s start with your computer.

When your computer finally arrives at its final destination… your desktop… it really is setup with basic settings. No settings have been optimized or tweaked, no PC booster or speed optimizer installed… just the operating system and some programs you’ll probably never use.

Adding accelerator download software will help increase internet connection speed, boost download speed and make using your computer much more enjoyable. The PC booster software makes your computer much more responsive, less likely to crash or freeze up.

How about RAM will that slow Internet Speed down?

Windows loves memory… the more the better. The internet is one of the most memory intensive things out there. Have you ever heard your hard disk thrashing when there’s nothing happening onscreen. If so you may be a candidate for more RAM.

What’s happening is your system is swapping data to and from your hard disk’s virtual memory cache. If you computer stops or pauses unexpectedly, it is most likely that your processor is slowing down from all the processes being thrown at it.
What are some other reasons for internet speed that is slow?

We’ve all heard that the internet is the information highway.
Let’s step back for a moment and look at the internet just that way and how it affects internet speed.

People get on “connect” to this information super-highway in all kinds of cars and use different fuels… modem, cable, DSL, T1, frame-relay, etc. All of these fuels let them travel at different speeds. Some people have their cars tuned to use the fuel very efficiently because they check internet speed by running an internet connection speed
test
.

They tune their computer with a PC booster, cable modem booster, or internet booster so they can travel with fast high speed internet access on the information highway.

Once they get on the highway there are other factors that affect how fast they can travel.

Traffic Jams

If everyone is jumping on the highway at the same time
going to the same place the road gets clogged and you have to wait your turn before you can get through… or get the information you want. All these roads – internet connections – are connected by feeder roads – routers and switches – that flow on to the main highway. If these routers and
switches are jammed with traffic you’re stuck… gridlock

But if you make that same trip during the off hours, you can arrive in no time.

Overhead

Let’s look at overhead as being somewhat of a police officer on a special escort. When you make a request for information on the super highway the receiver at the other end must get the request correctly. The overhead is the wrapper that makes sure your request is packaged and delivered intact.

Bandwidth Sharing

This is sort of the opposite of car pooling. What happens is that many people use the same road. You connect to the internet through your ISP that has multiple shared connections to the main super highway. However, if everyone decides to go for a drive at the same time… everyone slows down. The sum of all users is greater then the capacity.

Of course this may irritate you but most of the time when we are surfing we make a quick request and read… request and read. We are not all downloading giant files at the same time. Generally this system works pretty well.

Another way to think of it is when airlines overbook a flight… there are only so many seats to go around. Someone has to wait for the next plane.

Wrap up

As you can see there are a few items that can slow down your internet speed. Most of the bottlenecks are out of your control. However, it doesn’t do any good to worry about the things you can’t control.

But what you can control is having an optimized computer that is ready to jump on the internet at a moments notice with the fuel tuned to run as fast as it can. The way you do that is by optimizing your computer settings either manually or with Internet booster software.
