Next step to improve access speeds is to check your dial-up capabilities and see whether you have compatible equipment. Users can't use 56Kbps modems to dial remote access services unless the inbound lines have the appropriate kind of modem pool. Most modem vendors have firmware upgrades available that make your modem pool fully compliant with the current revision of the V.90 standard.

Time for a Connection Change

Of course, one way to improve connection speeds is to change connection methods. Giving yourself a broadband connection can dramatically improve your throughput at a small expense.

If you really want to improve connection speeds, no matter the costs, consider upgrading to a T1 or T3 line connection. The difference is huge, you have all the speed you need, and you won’t ever want to improve connection speed again.

Your system will slow down as more data fills the hard drive, programs are installed and more programs sit in memory… I know you’ve got 80 gigs of hard drive space and 256 megs of RAM but!!!
